Here under is my post on Fb. Read closely and for a 2nd and 3rd time and you will note that I never used the word proselytise. Niala Maharaj used the word and went on to add her preconceived notion of my proposed project.

“A trained and knowledgeable band of committed youths will be going to every home to share Hindu thoughts and values in this society.

With the West in decline-the unresolved Brexit- and India on a growth path with Modi at the helm, the opportunity is now. Hindus in the Caribbean have to now ride this wave of opportunity.

This Hindu missionary body will have the specific role to invite the public to share in Hindu hospitality. One instrument will be a Satsangh brand to cater to those potential Hindus. This would include a simple ritual to return those who have strayed from the path  of dharma. My prediction is that Hindu numbers can double in 25 years.”

“… To share Hindu thoughts and values…” What is offensive about that? “…to invite the public to share in Hindu hospitality.” How is this offensive? “One instrument will be a Satsangh brand to cater to those potential Hindus.” How is this offensive to evoke the wrath of Niala Maharaj? “This would be a simple ritual to return those who have strayed from the path to dharma.” Is it wrong to bring people back to dharma which are eternal and natural values? “My prediction is that Hindu numbers can double in 25 years.” The Muslims always boast that Islam is the fastest growing religion. Has Niala been offended by this statement? And if she had, has she ever expressed it publicly?

These are Niala’s responses

  1. Niala Maharaj: Hinduism doesn't proselytize.
  2. Niala: I hope dog bite them

In another post in FB Niala made the following release:

  1. Niala: “Some people are suggesting that I lied when I wrote in another post that some Hindu radicals were launching a proselytizing drive in TT. So here is the post. I didn't want to call anyone's name but I am forced to. I don't think I need to substantiate my claims about the other Hindutva threads, since the Hindutva have exposed their thinking on my thread, but if it's necessary I will.

NB: Again, she used the term “proselytizing drive in TT.” Is Niala being honest. I want the entire reading public to note this blatant and crude attack on my post. “To share Hindu thoughts and values” is offensive! “To promote dharma” is offensive!

I have been writing on social media for a number of years and I have tried my best to be honest and forthright…may be too forthright at times but I have never lied or tried to misrepresent facts. And should I inadvertently commit a wrong I would be more than happy to withdraw and apologize.

I work in a staff with members from diverse religious backgrounds. I try my best to get along well with all. I also participate in all religious activities including Eid and Christmas. What Niala has done is most offensive to say the least. The last thing I would do is to demand an apology. But I can assure her that as long as she is standing in the arena I would defend and attack without remorse. And I would do so relentlessly but with some style and decorum; not with dishonesty and blatant misrepresentation.
