The Caribbean Man is a White Man

Calypsonian Black Stalin’s name has come up in relation to the controversy about the SAPA centre being named after Sundar Popo instead of him.

I remember Stalin for his 1979 calypso Caribbean Unity about bringing unity to the Caribbean man.

I remember it was a pile of racist crap. Stalin was so dumb he couldn’t even have borrowed some child’s Standard 5 geography atlas to discover what was the Caribbean and hence what was the Caribbean man.

The idiot tried to sell the seven million mostly black people of the West Indian Federation as the Caribbean man or Caribbean people. He didn’t even consult a simple history book where he would have found out that the seven million of the old West Indies Federation were just the former British colonies of the Caribbean. They were and are only a small part of the Caribbean people.

It’s  not too late to educate Stalin and other similarly stupid people that the Caribbean region is all the islands and territories washed by the Caribbean Sea. It’s not too late for Stalin and company to understand that the majority of people in the Caribbean are white people, that the Caribbean man is a white man and not a black man.

Where’s the proof for this? It’s the child’s atlas, silly. It will show that the Caribbean region that is the home of the Caribbean man includes all the islands from Cuba to Hispaniola to Puerto Rico down the Windward and Leeward island to Trinidad, AND Venezuela, Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, Costa Rica and Panama.

Mexico 68 million in 1979, around a quarter or 16 million as white Europeans.Cuba alone had over 9 million people in 1979, with about 4 million of the Cubans counting as white Europeans. Venezuela at the time had 15 million people, around 9 million classified as white.  Puerto Rico’s 3 million would have included 2.4 million white.

So here we have at least 32 million white people in the Caribbean at the time demographically illiterate Stalin was braying about the 7 million of the old British empire as the Caribbean man. Even adding in Haiti’s 8 million blacks to his 7 million would be way below the total of the true Caribbean man, the white man. Let’s see if Stalin has the belly to revise his ignorant calypso to respect this geography lesson I am giving him.

I know he needs a history lesson too. His lyrics (see below) are worse than a boo, maybe a boo boo.

Singing about the seven million of the West Indies Federation, Stalin says:

Them is one race. Wrong. There are many races.

From the same place. Wrong again. They came from Europe, Africa, China and more.

They make the same trip. Wrong three times. The three groups made different trips.

On the same ship. I mean how wrong can one man be in one calypso?

There is no point in going any further. Stalin’s calypso was racist crap when he sang it in 1979 and it is racist crap today

Caribbean Unity by Black Stalin

You try with a Federation, the whole thing end in confusion
Caricom and then Carifta, but somehow I smelling disaster
Mister West Indian politician, I mean you went to big institution
And how come you can't unite 7 million?
When a West Indian unity, I know is very easy
If you only rap to your people and tell them like me

Them is one race (The Caribbean man)
From the same place (The Caribbean man)
That make the same trip (The Caribbean man)
On the same ship (The Caribbean man)
So we must push one common intention
Is for a better life in the region
For we woman, and we children
That must be the ambition of the Caribbean man
The Caribbean man, the Caribbean man

You say that the Federation was imported quite from England
And you going and form a Carifta with a true West Indian flavour
But since Carifta started running, morning, noon and night all I hearing
Is just money speech them prime minister giving
But I say, no set of money could form a unity
First of all your people need their identity

Like one race (The Caribbean man)
From the same place (The Caribbean man)
That make the same trip (The Caribbean man)
On the same ship (The Caribbean man)
So we must push one common intention
Is for a better life in the region
For we woman, and we children
That must be the ambition of the Caribbean man
The Caribbean man, the Caribbean man

Caricom is wasting time, the whole Caribbean gone blind
If we don't know from where we coming, then we can't plan where we going
That's why some want to be communist, brother, some want to be socialist
And one set of religion to add to the foolishness

Look, a man who don't know his history can't form no unity
How could a man who don't know his roots form his own ideology?

Like one race (The Caribbean man)
From the same place (The Caribbean man)
That make the same trip (The Caribbean man)
On the same ship (The Caribbean man)
So we must push one common intention
Is for a better life in the region
For we woman, and we children
That must be the ambition of the Caribbean man
The Caribbean man, the Caribbean man

The Federation done dead and Carifta going to bed
But the cult of the Rastafarian spreading through the Caribbean
It have Rastas now in Grenada, it have Rastas now in St. Lucia
But to run Carifta, yes, you getting pressure
If the Rastafari movement spreading and Carifta dying slow
Then is something them Rastas on, that them politicians don't know

That there's one race (The Caribbean man)
From the same place (The Caribbean man)
That make the same trip (The Caribbean man)
On the same ship (The Caribbean man)
So they pushing one common intention
Is for a better life in the region
For their woman, and their children
That must be the ambition of the Caribbean man
The Caribbean man, the Caribbean man
