A HOIST FOR WEST INDIAN HEARTS

DR-Tulsi-Dyal-Singh

More than half the West Indian people
have never savored the pleasure
of the West Indies cricket team
beating Australia in Australia
but today it happened at the Gabba
storied venue of the Tied Test
that then catapulted the West Indies
from mediocrity to genius.

We have waited for twenty seven years
to relive the gush of bygone years
when the West Indies style of cricket
was the benchmark of the world
and though one win does not a era make
let’s rejoice for the tingle this has brought.

A young man from Baracara
a village upstream of the Berbice River
clearly starred the bowling show
pace bowling of high velocity
even with a damaged toe
blistering speed like the days of long ago.

Seven wickets for sixty eight
kept the Aussies eight runs short
of the target of two hundred sixteen.
Congratulations and sincere thank you
to Shemar Joseph and our team
for giving West Indian hearts a hoist
and hopes for many more victorious jaunts.
