I agree with PNC leader Granger that Guyana is a sovereign nation and all legal final decisions should be made by Guyana’s judiciary.
Guyana would then be following the example of the case of Britain pulling out of the European Courts that was affecting the British Judicial System and its English customs.
What is important is the intent of the two leaders or two ethnically based parties in Guyana wanting the same objective but seeking such for different reasons.
Both the PPP and PNC – parties and leaders wanted Independence for Guyana with the same objective and goal but for different reasons.
The PNC – Black / African – based party primarily wanted ownership of an independent Guyana for the be all and end all of it.
The PNC has no long term goals for Guyana. The PPP – Indian based party naively wanted a Socialist Guyana where all would be equal and ultimately that is the main cause of Guyana political problems today. Both parties wanted the same goals but had different intended reality.
Granger advocates for Guyana Courts to deal with Guyana’s legal political problems, not the Caribbean Courts of Justice [ CCJ ] which ruled aganist the PNC government in the March,2020 elections.
The Guyana Court system and GECOM – was stocked against the PPP- party in the 2020 elections with an overwhelming African bureaucracy that initially supported the African based PNC / APNU government.
For example the Guyana Court of Appeal failed to be professional and impartial to rule what amounts to a majority of 65 i.e. 34 instead of 33.
Guyana exiting the CCJ and NOT having an impartial GECOM and court systems is a recipe for political suicide and possible civil war.
The PPP – party as the government of today has the obligation and tenacity to put in place in all government institutions a careful ethnic balance in tħe bureaucracy to prevent especially rigged elections which triggers violence every election season.
The PPP – government must understand that the CCJ or ABC – countries may NOT support their interests all the time. The more leftist the ABC countries get ,its unlikely they will support the PPP – government.
Presently, the PPP – government has failed to implement power in the regions to override the PNC – bureaucracy in each region. Regional power is a necessary security blanket for its Government and its base.
Therefore, I support the call by PNC leader Granger to remove Guyana from the CCJ ,even though his intent is frightening. Guyana needs a complete new political infrastructure before the next elections. Get it done PPP !
