Beware of the wrath of Mother Kaali

Dool Hanomansingh

Those who are engaged in desecrating Hindu mandirs and murtis will not be spared put punished by the wrath of Mother Kaali. Several individuals who have desecrated Hindu murtis have met with untimely deaths and it would be no different for the individual or individuals who recently desecrated the murti of Mother Kaali at a mandir in Carli Bay, Couva, Trinidad.

In the Bhagavad Gita Sri Krishna promised that he would take incarnation from time to time for three reasons: to protect the dharmic people; to destroy the evil ones; and to restore the path of dharma.  (Chapter 4/Verses 7&8). Bhagavan does not go back on his promise. Throughout the ages Bhagavan has taken birth to fulfil his promises to his devotees.

Hindus must accept that the attack on Hindu dharma is not recent but since time immemorial. In the Ramayana Sage Viswamitra had to seek the assistance of the ruling monarch to protect his yagya from desecration. Dasarath, the reigning monarch, had a legal and moral duty to enforce law and order and protect the rights of citizens.

Hindus have projected themselves as weak, hence the reason why they are under siege for the last 1200 years. Aggression against the Hindu community must be stopped by aggression and not by singing a bhajan or holding a five-night Ramayan yagya and offering solution from the singhasan. We have allowed too much of pacifism to flow into the body politics beginning with the rise of Buddhism in 300 BCE and culminating with the partitioning of the country in 1947 with Mahatma Gandhi (1869-1948), a pacifist, at the helm.

In 1925 the RSS (Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh) was born to stem the tide of aggression against Hindu society. Dr Baliram Keshav Hedgewar (1989-1940), the founder of the RSS was an active member of the freedom struggle. Acknowledging that Hindus were under attack he focused his energies toward organizing a cadre of Hindus to protect the Hindu community.

The Arya Vir Dal, an offshoot of the Arya Samaj of Punjab, was born to protect Hindus in the Punjab after many were murdered by Islamic extremists. The Vir Dal went on to play a critical role in the liberation of Hyderabad. Had the Vir Dal been born earlier, the aggression of Muslim extremists in the Punjab in the pre-partition era might have been stemmed and the truncating of the Motherland would have been saved.

The relentless campaigns against the RSS by anti-national forces in India today is because they understand that without the RSS Indian society can be easily destabilized. Many strive to equate the RSS with the recently banned PFI (Popular Front of India) and other extremist Islamic organizations but failed to offer viable evidence for such a conclusion.

The political violence that was inflicted against Indians in Guyana by the PNC thugs took place in Trinidad to a lesser degree only because of Bhadase Sagan Maraj who was no weakling but always ready to confront all threats and aggression against the Hindu community. Had Bhadase Maraj taken a page from the RSS, the Hindu community would have been better organized today.

Hindu youths pursue education and careers with blinkers, unmindful of existential threats.  An unwritten law must be inscribed in the Hindu psyche that it takes more than being born a Hindu to be a Hindu and life goes beyond dhal, rice, bhaji, flush toilet, a house, and a motor car.

A new culture has developed in our community called mandir-hopping or jumping from one mandir to another with the search for greener pastures. Individuals who persist with such behavior are pests that spread diseases wherever they find themselves. Instead of inculcating a culture of peace and progress, these jumping jacks ignite animosities and conflicts. They must be identified and quarantined!

Hindus in the Caribbean need to take a page from the RSS and start organizing the community. If this is not done any crackpot or school dropout would continue to smash murtis and write biblical quotes on the walls of our mandirs and our jumping jacks would chant with relish and delight ‘yadda yadda hi dharmasya…’ crying out to Bhagavan to take birth on earth to solve all their problems.
