Master of ceremonies, members of the diplomatic community, speakers, members of the media, distinguished ladies, and gentlemen. Thank you for being here today to celebrate the book launch of Hemraj Ramdath’s remarkable work, “Beyond Indentureship, Indo-Trinidadian Entrepreneurs.” I am honored to deliver the vote of thanks and have this most enjoyable task of expressing our appreciation on behalf of all those who have been inspired by Mr. Ramdath’s book, and to all those whose participation in the launch of this book has made it both special and successful.
We have just witnessed the formal release of the book by Dr. Vishnu Bisram, an outstanding Caribbean son. We thank you Dr. Bisram for adjusting your schedule so that you can join us this afternoon.
To Mr. Badru Deen for being an outstanding host and role of master of ceremonies, we thank you.
To Mr. Michael Dolsingh for his introduction of our author and to Ms. Merissa Sandro and Mrs. Anita Chandradath Singh, who read the excerpts from 2 of the 33 companies featured in the publication. We express our appreciation.
This venue was appropriately transformed for the occasion and for that, we thank Urdan and Pravine for the provisions and décor of the facilities and Vash for the projection equipment.
In addition, to members of the media as well as you, our distinguished audience, our heartfelt thanks for your presence and for joining us in making this book release an outstanding event.
On this momentous occasion, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to my cousin Hemraj Ramdath, for his dedication in bringing this book to life and focusing on the often-overlooked stories of Indo-Trinidadian entrepreneurs. By documenting their experiences and successes, you have created a solid foundation upon which future generations can build upon and understand the challenges faced by our people, and the vital role they played in shaping the socio-economic landscape of Trinidad.
Hemraj, your book is a testament to the importance of promoting diversity and keeping the narrative alive, by bringing the voices of our ancestors to life. You have reminded us that it is through works like these that we can bridge gaps, break barriers, and foster a more inclusive and compassionate world for all.
Lastly, you have created a playbook that validates the mere existence of our ancestors and will be treasured by all for years to come. I know our grandparents Nanny (Moya) and Nana (Papa) would be proud.
You have provided answers to our questions by connecting the dots, ensuring that the stories and experiences within these pages will never be forgotten. On behalf of my Father, the late Deonarine Rampersad, my entire family and I, we thank you for enlightening us on the sacrifices and achievements of our ancestors, as they laid the groundwork for us to reap the benefits, in which we are blessed to enjoy today. You have instilled in us a profound sense of appreciation for those that came before us, and we will continue to honour their legacy. Join me in congratulating Hemraj Ramdath on this remarkable achievement.
I now invite you to mix and mingle and get copies of the book autographed by Hemraj, for you and your loved one, as it will be one of the most valuable and cherished additions to your collection. At the cost of $20 per copy, it will be an investment that will bring immediate and positive returns. As a reminder, the books are also available at Bedessee outlet, and on Amazon.com
