Caricom to host meeting on cricket development

Buoyed by the India- based Reliance Industries, Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley will chair a conference of the future development of West Indies.

The conference will be held on April 25 and 26 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Port-of-Spain.

Among the attendees are Barbados Prime Minister Mia Mottley, cricket legends such as Clive Lloyd, player representatives, business people, Caribbean Premier League T 20 with the sole purpose of further enhancing cricket in the region, and beyond.

Dr Rowley old the media on TMhursday that he was hoping that this conference can sh ow a way forward, to make sure that the best players play for the West Indies at all levels in all the various genres of the game.

“What is happening is that we don’t have a management or support structure that allows that to happen.” he said.

He added that the conference will stimulate some interest in supporting West Indies cricket in a way that has noyt=t been supported and clarified.”

Dr Rowley is chairman of the Caricom Prime Ministerial Sub-Committee on cricket.
