Chaguanas Mayor hails India’s religion and culture

Port-of-Spain: Newly-elected Mayor of Chaguanas, Vandana Mohit has praised India for its religious and cultural initiatives and as well in educating people around the world through its various technical and educational programmes.

Ms. Mohit was addressing India’s 71st Republic Day celebrations in Sunday at Ellerlise Park, Port-of-Spain. “The Government of India has led the charge in educating people from around the world, and grants them the opportunity to experience centuries of learning, research and data collection which it has so profoundly produced.”

“As children of descendants of great warriors and thinkers, we need to instill a sense pride in our youths so as the rights and freedoms that our forefathers fought are not in vain,” Ms. Mohit said.

“Through the expression, and the knitting of our cultures, we can only become stronger and yield a greater acceptance of each other. The economy has benefitted through diverse investments, the exchange of ideas has boosted innovation, invention and advancement in scores of disciplines, and the medical field is just one of them,” Ms. Mohit said.

Ms. Mohit hailed the sound and fruitful diplomatic partnership and friendship between India and Trinidad and Tobago, and through her office they will maintain the relationship built, and in so doing she announced that the Valmiki Ramayan Art Exhibition now on display, will be staged in Chaguanas soon.

“I also want to commend and highlight the Indian High Commission and High Commissioner Arun Kumar Sahu for promoting and maintaining Indian culture globally. Our culture, religion, technology and the spirit of humanity, all of which enhanced a different landscape for all mankind. Indians are among the elites in every sphere of technological, social, economic and humanitarian field of advancement,” she said.

Ms. Mohit also announced that she was proud to be an alumna of the world-recognized Indian Technical and Economic Co-operation Programme (ITEC).
