It is noted by Dr Dhanpaul Narine that after years of making presentations and lobbying politicians, Diwali is now officially a school holiday in New York. The legislation was passed last night in the New York State Assembly, and was piloted by Jenifer Rajkumar, a Hindu member of the State Assembly. Legislation has also been introduced to make Diwali a federal holiday.
