Extending Contract of Police Commissioner of Trinidad and Tobago

Trinidad map

The extension of the contract of the Commissioner of Police comes as no surprise to The Congress of the People, as a matter of fact; we see this as a continuation of the government’s handling of the overall crime and criminality pandemic overtaking our land.

To have removed the CoP would have meant that she had failed, thereby resulting in showcasing the government’s failure to hire a competent officer, to exacerbate this, it would have also indicated that the current Minister of National Security failure in justifying the removal of the previous holder of that office.

The government is more interested in continuing the charade of “all is well” while knowing fully well that as it heads into a general elections year that our country continues to bleed profusely.

It is time that we as citizens recognise that this government is more interested in maintaining the status quo and not in protecting the lives of innocent citizens, citizens, who are being murdered, robbed and raped daily.

We may have only one chance to get this right, let’s show them that we will no longer be willing to maintain the same status quo.
