Family member kicked out for opposing PNM

Gary Griffith

From NTA’s Gary Griffith

The National Transformation Alliance (NTA) expresses its concern and deep regret over the recent incident which saw one of our candidates for Local Government Elections, targeted and kicked out from their home by his family, all because he dared to support and then go on to represent the NTA, in a ‘PNM home’. And whilst we understand the individual responsibility for the family’s unfortunate decision, we see it as a symptom of a wider problem that is rooted in the politics of division, hate and stoking of fear for the ‘other’, which was so disgracefully demonstrated recently when PM Keith Rowley all but dog-whistled racial violence.

That a family will kick another family member out of their home because they are not a PNM, says a lot about the atmosphere created and nurtured by the hierarchy of the PNM over the last 8 years. Squarely on the shoulders of this Keith Rowley led PNM, this hate, bitterness and acrimony was not a part of Manning’s PNM as the former PM understood that those who didn’t support him may have been political opponents but never political enemies. We therefore urge all families, not to be infected by the Rowley Effect and to reject his politics of division.
