Guyana Rohee’s mocking of Illegal Guyanese & Green Card Holders in America

Dear Editor,

Mr. Clement Rohee’s letter, a response to Dr Vishnu Bisram’s retort (March 25) on Rohee’s communist ideology, caught my attention. It is replete with inaccuracies, self-opinions, contradictions, irrelevancies, and redundancies. He writes generally without any evidence to support any claim or assertion. It is unreadable. It is pathetic. Good luck to Dr. Bisram in trying to make sense out of nonsense and responding to nothingness. But I would like to address Rohee’s denigration of undocumented (Indian) Guyanese in “Little Guyana”, mocking and jeering them. Being illegal in America is no laughing matter, and certainly not one to degrade Indians.

It is because of illegal or undocumented Guyanese from the 1960s onwards, that one million Guyanese have been able to make USA their home. Illegals followed the law and legalize their status, sponsoring kinship to join them. We have lived successful lives. And yes, there are tens of thousands of illegal Guyanese in USA, seeking to make an honest living and pursuing legalized status. But legal or not, Guyanese have contributed significantly to the growth and development of Guyana sending annually over the last several decades tens of millions of American dollars to Guyana in remittances and material things and rehabilitating homes in their former homeland. It is, therefore, reprehensible and a sad commentary for Rohee (and associates in PPP) to mock and ridicule illegal Indian Guyanese in Richmond Hill. Is Rohee speaking for PPP in launching this scathing mocking attack on undocumented Guyanese and those with green cards. Isn’t that nimakharamism? The party should dissociate from Rohee on that remark.

On his communist ideology, on one hand, in a previous response to Dr. Bisram, Rohee stated he is not anti-American and anti-Trump. On the other hand, in a marked contradiction, in his latest unsubstantiated assault, he accuses Dr Bisram of writing to impress MAGA supporters to go easy on illegal and green card Guyanese, suggesting Rohee is anti-MAGA and, therefore, anti-Trump.

I don’t know of Dr. Bisram’s intention in his response to Rohee. So what if Dr. Bisram is seeking protection “of Guyanese who are undocumented and with a green card”? Isn’t that a noble objective to help fellow Guyanese, a known lifelong characteristic of Dr Bisram’s? Does Rohee want the illegals and green card holders deported? He must be selfishly seeing them as voters for PPP if they get deported.

Yours truly,
Dharamdatt Durjan
