Guyanese John Mootooveren is seeking re-election to the City Council of the City of Schenectady in upstate New York. H e was first elected to the seven member council in 2013. In January 2020, he was elected President of the Council for a two year term that expires in January 2022.
The term of office expires at the end of this year. And members must seek re-election if they wish to continue to serve on the council. First, candidates must win their party’s nomination in the primary election to get on the ballot in the November election unless they plan to run as independents.This year, the primary is spread over several days to accommodate voters during the pandemic. The dates for the primary are June 13 to 20.
