The Hindu Diaspora Foundation, founded by Shri Mark (Ramesh) Ramdeen, made its mark at the 17th annual Hindu diaspora mandir conference held in North Carolina on the weekend of September 27. The organization serves the welfare of Hindus globally. Its central office is in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York, USA and has supporting groups in the Caribbean and several states in America.
The Hindu Mandir Empowerment Council (HMEC) hosted the annual Hindu conference from September 27 to 29 whose mission is to bring Hindus together from around the diaspora. Hundreds came from North America and elsewhere. Several Indo-Caribbeans from USA, Canada, and the Caribbean were in attendance in North Carolina. The HDF had a prominent presence in the form of Ramdeen and daughter Radha and media Itech person Ashish Jangid who is based in Trinidad.
The mission of Hindu Diaspora Foundation is to empower, strengthen, and unite the Bharatiya (Indian) Sanathan Hindu Diaspora (globally) with a goal of inspiring and nurturing Hindus to become more conscious of their identity as a people and to create a more unified alliance that will strengthen cooperation among major Hindu Organizations and individuals that share a common objective of empowering Hindus and propagating Sanathan Dharma. The HDF networks fellow Hindus to impact Hindus in Diasporic territories including Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname, Mauritius, Fiji and other diasporic societies as well as Bhaarat Maataa. The HDF promoted its mission at the HMEC conference.
HMEC claims that it “offers Mandir Executives”, Priests, Hindu community leaders and Scholars a great opportunity to learn from one another and grow as one” through the annual conference. The conference saw a large presence of volunteers and those involved in a variety of seva activities through temples in North America and the Caribbean.
The theme of this year’s conference was: “Hindu Diaspora: Deepening Their Sanatan Dharma Roots”.
Shri Ramdeen ji said HDF is working with Hindu organizations in Trinidad, Guyana, Suriname, USA, and elsewhere to propagate Hinduism and to address problems faced by Hindus globally”.
