*”I have always condemned any statements or behavior which can lead to racial divisiveness and hatred in Trinidad and Tobago.*
However, I am particularly disturbed by this Tik Tok video which has been in wide circulation as it portrays an obscene and malicious intent to cause harm to East Indians in our society. The Statements of the individual go beyond race baiting and racist bacchanal.
I expect that the TTPS is already giving priority to investigating the person in the video as well as all of the circumstances surrounding the making and distribution of the video.
The Statements made are in clear contravention of our laws which prohibit inciting hatred, violence and bodily harm. The message is clearly calling upon persons to jump over property fences and to enter people’s homes. This amounts to acts of trespass against property. The clear statements that persons should be dealt with further suggests that people should be violent towards and or perpetrate the most heinous crimes upon Indian people.
It will not be surprising that criminals have already heeded this call and carried out violent crimes during the recent upsurge in ‘home invasions’.
If indeed the person in the video is a known political activist, I expect the Leaders of the relevant political party to denounce and condemn such behavior otherwise they will be endorsing same by their silence.”
