The Indian Diaspora Council International (IDC) has issued a press statement unequivocally condemning the spate of attacks against Asian Americans in the US. IDC is headquartered in New York with affiliated branches in several countries with diaspora populations. The organization has been organizing Indian diaspora conferences and other programs and activities since that time. It has been speaking out against injustice and violence against immigrant communities in America. In an interview, the President of IDC International Mr. Ramsaran said, the organization unreservedly condemns all forms of attacks against Asian Americans and all other communities. He calls on authorities at the national and local level to fully investigate these biased attacks, arrest the perpetrator , and prosecute them to the fullest extent of the law.

The press statement states in part:

“We condemn all forms of of targeted racial attacks, including intimidation, brutality, violence and deaths, directed against Asian-Americans and persons of Asian origin in the USA. IDC considers these despicable and reprehensible acts as unjustified criminal actions targeted against persons because of their race and ethnic origin. IDC joins with community organizations and agencies in support of quick condemnation and community solidarity for justice and prevention of similar racial violence. We share the pain and anguish of our brethren and sisters of Asian origin in the USA and globally, and we extend our support and prayers for the families of those who lost their lives as well as those injured in the recent attacks in Atlanta and elsewhere. IDC encourages many more officials, organizations and institutions nationally in the USA and globally to express condemnation of these criminal actions directed against Asian-Americans and persons of Asian origin in the USA. We urge all efforts to prevent similar attacks in the future and support a national dialogue at local and national levels to resolve conflicts, misinformation and misplaced perceptions which can lead to such tragedies. We share in the belief that such callous and uncivilized crimes perpetrated against innocent people cannot diminish people’s desire and courage of people to live peacefully with dignity and their hard won freedoms and rights. We urge all efforts to prevent similar attacks in the future and support a national dialogue at local and national levels to resolve conflicts, misinformation and misplaced perceptions which can lead to such tragedies. We share in the belief that such callous and uncivilized crimes perpetrated against innocent people cannot diminish people’s desire and courage of people to live peacefully with dignity and their hard won
