Indian High Commission donates books to Leonora Hindu Temple

The majestical sound of a magical India always brings nostalgic music to the awaiting ears, a sweet scent to the probing nostrils, a kaleidoscopic scenery to the yearning eyes, a savory taste to the satisfying tongue, a classic touch of class to the patient hands, an adventurous journey of miraculous events to the tireless limbs and an insatiable feeling of overwhelming contentment in mind, body and soul.

India came to Leonora through the kind courtesy of the High Commission of India in Guyana and the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Centre, when they hosted the Indian movie “WAR,” as they rounded off the second edition of the “Bollywood Bonanza” Indian Film Festival, running from December 2025 to March 2026. This film was featured at the West Central Mall in Region 3.

In keeping with a promise to further enrich cultural promotion and preservation, the Indian High Commission also donated a series of books for distribution to the members of the Leonora Hindu Temple and adequately shared with members of the Uitvlugt Mandir.

This project was made possible through the graciousness and thoughtfulness of the acting high commissioner, Shriman ji Manoj and the Public Relations Officer, Shrimati ji Suman who were present at the screening. The coordinated effort included the input of Soma ji and Indira ji from the High Commission’s office and Leonora’s community social worker, Jai Lall.

The books were well received and covered topics including religion, culture, history, arts, food, yoga, meditation and science and are for matured and young readers. They were distributed during the festive week of Navratri and Ram Navami. The devotees from Leonora and Uitvlugt expressed their thanks and appreciation for this fine gesture.

In addition, according to the Indian High Commission’s Office, plans are afoot to extend this service and in other areas.

Yours respectfully,
Jai Lall.
