PBD, initiated by the BJP led NDA government initiated PBD in January 2003. It has been an annual event ever since except since 2015 when it became bi-yearly under the Shri Modi administration. But events related to PBD were still held annually during that period in India and in missions abroad. This year, the Indian High Commission in Guyana hosted a program at the Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center in Georgetown.
Shri Parmanand Sukhu, among others, were honored by the mission for their sterling contributions to Guyana and relations between Guyana and India.
