Indo-Caribbean Ramayana in Park Commences in Richmond Hill, NY

The annual Ramayana in the Park commenced Sunday evening at the Arya Samaj ground on 133rd Street off Liberty Ave in Richmond Hill, Little Guyana , Queens, NY. Pandit Tillack Seeratan of Sri Devi Mandir officiated reading from the Bala Kaanda of the holy Ramcharitmanas. Pandit Seeratan delivered a brilliant discourse. The preceding night had a youth program of songs, classical dances, and a presentation on the Ramayana.

The Ramayana discourse will continue nightly thru Saturday and conclude on Sunday morning with chanting of different excerpts or Kaanda from the Ramayana. A different pandit will hold court nightly. The event is sponsored and organized by several Mandirs under the umbrella of Ramayana in the Park Inc. One of the key organizers and sponsors is Herman Singh.

A similar Ramayana in the Park was held at the courtyard of Shri Surya Narayan Mandir the preceding week with night discourse that concluded last Sunday morning.
