NTA Media release; 24th October, 2023
*Make your choice. Leaders who will take the fight to criminals and defend law-abiding citizens, or those in charge who are sympathetic to criminals, when citizens are given firearms to defend themselves. Come 2025 you choose*
Just as I said before, there are persons in this country who support, or who are sympathetic to criminals. This is why when I said “We will do it to them before they do it to us.”, and “One shot one kill.”, a small but vocal group got offended, perhaps because they share the same values with the criminals.
Jamaica is seeing massive reductions in crime while Trinidad and Tobago is seeing the opposite, because they have a strong and worthy Minister of National Security. With the absence of the required aggression, criminals have virtually taken over our country, and those same critics have gone silent.
As Minister of National Security and as Commissioner of Police, I echoed a similar position to Jamaica’s Security Minister, which is why I wholeheartedly support him, and it is why during my watch we had record reductions in crime, and people felt much safer. Criminals were fearful because this is the only way to deal with murderers, rapists, and kidnappers who terrorize good law abiding citizens.
In contrast to Jamaica however, we have a Prime Minister and a Minister of National Security who seem more concerned with the feelings of criminals, over giving citizens the right to defend themselves. But thankfully in 18 months or so citizens of Trinidad and Tobago will have the opportunity to make a decisive choice.
