It is heartening to hear that Prime Minister

Dr Keith Rowley has an interest in agricultural development.

But he does not have to go to Africa to initiate it; our farmers are quite capable to resurrect or agricultural capacity and development, but what they need is strong governmental support and direction.

Planting of yam, cassava and other root crops are not only the purview of African farmers. but after some many centuries, the leader of our government is now saying that these ground provisions are best from Africa.

Dr. Rowley should revisit the initiatives of Dr Eric Williams and Dr Rudranath Capildeo who initiated the famous Buy Local Campaign in 1963, just after we gained Independence in August 1962. and that fell by the wayside and never regained consciousness.\

If he is serious, he should ask his Minister of Agriculture, Lands and Fisheries, Kazim Hosein to dig up the files at that ministry so that could usher him the now defunct program.

Mr. Prime Minister, you are past late to resurrect agriculture, but give it a try to Minister Kazim,
