Preparing for Elections: It will be another UNC Loss in Trinidad and Tobago

Phillip Alexander

The same UNC that could not win is assembling on the pitch for one last loss? Never mind the fact that all those heads are significantly older and less able now, playing the break up/make up game is simply not enough. The electorate wants a capable, vibrant government led by people who would rein in the rapacious banks, break the contract mafia contracts, clean up the police service, end the drug trade and give average Trinis a chance at a better life. Tricking voters with a UNC that is in bed with the sane contract mafia financiers will benefit no one. It is the PEP that stood up to the foolishness of a jab policy that now has young and vibrant people dropping like flies. It is the PEP that exposed the criminality of paying to desalinate water in a country drowned by rain seven months out of the year. It is the PEP that exposed the nonsense of a prestige school/failed school system despite taxpayers paying for ALL of it. It is the PEP that promises to end the failed SEA exam that is used as a front to segregate society at eleven years old. It is the PEP that speaks about bank fees that empties depositors accounts, and it is the PEP that has continuously highlighted the misuse of taxpayer funds on wasteful projects at over bloated prices that benefits no one. If for one minute you believe that getting in your section and voting Indian and African can be of benefit to this formerly wealthy country, then I invite you to look back over our sixty one years and point out to me when that ever has. The UNC is the PNM in a different shirt, with different low level members getting enough food on their plate to evangelize the nonsense of race politics. Our country is failing, not for a lack of box drains, but for a lack of serious minded individuals at the helm disconnected from the secret society beneficiaries of tax and spend mania. We are all tired and we all want a better country, but going back to the last abuser because this abuser abusing worse is not a solution. We have a real chance here, and no, recycled politicians who failed to fix it in the past are not the way to go. The Progressive Empowerment Party stands ready to provide outcomes we could be proud of. To make us the new Singapore or Dubai. To give us an education system like Finland’s, the best in the world, that leaves no child behind. The Progressive Empowerment Party will introduce a proper Internal Affairs Unit manned by contracted foreign law enforcement professionals with one job, to find and rot out the bad apples in the police service. We would shut the drug and illegal contraband business down cold by securing both the legitimate ports and the maritime boundaries. We will create through proper financial services regulations a culture of completion among established and new banks so that depositors will gain and not lose, and credit will flood the market, creating a new class of entrepreneurs that ends the stranglehold of the corruption czars and monopolies once and for all. You have heard our ground breaking policies and seen us in action, fixing things paid Ministers and Members of Parliament could not. Your future and that of our children is in your hands. Spend it wisely. Don’t be conned by names and faces that failed you before. Sixty one years of change/exchange is enough. Dare to stand for a better country with people already standing for you, and let us fix it. All of it. We stand ready, disconnected from the convolutions of identity politics. Give yourself a chance and vote yourself a better country.
