Evelyn Henville, an educator, pens that has been recruiting Guyanese teachers since 2010 to work in USA. She said Guyanese teachers are among the best from the region.
She writes: “Your teachers are very good in classroom management and discipline. I also have been dealing with you on transcripts and your service has been exceptional and I want to say thank you”. She adds: I have been recruiting teachers on the J1 Visa Cultural Exchange Program. This is a Program by the US State Department that permits qualified teachers to bring their families and teach in the US for 5 years then return home for 2 years then they can reapply again. Presently I need teachers in Primary Education, Math, Science, Special Education, Business Education, Art, Music, Physical Education with a minimum of a BA Degree and teacher trained to work in the US Virgin Islands and Illinois. I know we lack teachers in the Caribbean Islands and S.A. and I do not want to deplete your numbers. But since your teachers there retire at age 55years maybe this is the group to tap into because retirement age in the US is 65years and the J1 Cultural Visa Exchange is a 5year visa”.
