I want to congratulate the PNM supporters and Afro- Trinis in particular. They certainly have all the reasons to vote for the balishier.
I am looking at the many good projects that have been commissioned by the Prime Minister. It demonstrates that this Prime Minister has not forgotten the people who voted him in power- not the people in Caroni or Debe or Rio Claro or Cunupia.
Knowing who have him in power, the Prime Minister demonstrates gratitude by rewarding them with the largess of the state – education, pan yards, housing, hampers, and vaccines at their door steps.
Three government primary schools were commissioned by the Honorable Prime Minister in less than 10 days – Malabar Government (August 26); San Juan Government (August 23), and the Chatham Government (August 17).
I must congratulate the Prime Minister for turning the sod for the construction of a home for Desperadoes. The Minister of Tourism, Culture and the Arts, Senator Ramdall Mitchell said that the “new facility will provide the Desperadoes organization with “limitless earning potential and possibilities through sustainable business models.” Neither can I nor the UNC disagree with the Senator Mitchell because we all are in agreement that pan is the national culture. No UNC MP dare makes a call for a similar home for tassa or Ramleela! So, Pan, Calypso and Carnival remain the sole cultural staple!
And what about the lands that were allocated at Brechin Castle for a Sugar Museum and a Center for Ramleela? Why is no one appealing to the government for that project to ne implemented? Had it been a plan to develop a home for Moko Jumbie Arts, would Roodal Moonilal and Rudy Indarsingh have remained dumb?
I am happy for those people who vote for the PNM. Without a doubt the Prime Minister cannot be called a nemakhram. If it is one word this Prime Minister understands is the word gratitude and he demonstrates it daily in fighting and defending his policies to further the welfare and happiness of his supporters.
Rowley’s recent tour of Ridge View Heights Housing Development to look at the progress of housing development further demonstrates his commitment to his supporters. The Prime Minister is a political genius. He remembers that in 2010 Bon Air voted against the PNM and he does not wish a repeat of that experience.
This is unlike the UNC that has made the Chaguanas East constituency a safe seat in the making for the PNM through the Oasis Housing Development at Egypt in Endeavour. With not a single family from Endeavour receiving a house from that HDC development, the ethnic demography of the constituency is changing which translates to voting behaviour. So come the next general elections, Chaguanas East would be PNM with Clarence Rambharat emerging as an elected member of the House!
Who in the Opposition is asking the Prime Minsiter about the commissioning of the Ramai Trace Hindu, the Reform Hindu and the Debe Campus? If those educational institutions were Roman Catholic Schools in PNM districts, the UNC Opposition would have been asking questions every Monday morning. Unfortunately, they are in safe UNC constituencies and the people who have to benefit from them are the taken for granted UNC supporter!
Do UNC politicians appear to sound racists when they make demands for facilities for their constituents? If not so, why are they not speaking out on behalf of their constituents? Who were the Government, the Minister of Housing and the Managing Director of HDC that built houses in Oasis Park the Prime that were not distributed to UNC supporters?
If my Member of Parliament is afraid to call on the government for equity in the distribution of housing, school and cultural facilities to reflect our ethnic diversity then my voting for them can be deemed racist.
My message to the leadership of the UNC is that I am afraid of being branded a racist so it would be better to put a non-Indian as my UNC candidate for Chaguanas East in future. Someone like Anil Roberts or Jearlean John may be the ideal candidate rather than Taramatie Baahadoor or Rattan Kissoon. Roberts or John may not do any thing for me but I would have the benefit of not being branded a racist.
In future, the UNC should put all non-Indian candidates in its safe seats starting with Jearlean John, Anil Roberts, Damian Lyder, David Nakhid etc. As for the sitting MPs I suggest they be given seats in Port of Spain and environs, Point Fortin and La Brea so that they can better represent those constituents by making appeals for HDC housing, schools and greater funding for pan, calypso and carnival.
I assure the UNC that if that is done Roodal Monilal and Rudy Indarsingh will bring home Laventille East and Laventille West for the UNC. Kamala would certainly bring home Po S South! It this electoral strategy is followed the UNC would form the next government…we back in power!
