RUDY IS DANCING BETWEEN THE SUNBEAMS

DR-Tulsi-Dyal-Singh

The news is that Rudy Insanally has passed away,
away from the mortal bond that clings to Earth
to the celestial zones where Heaven waits
for this son of Guyana and citizen of the world.

Rudy sent me an autographed copy of his book,
“Dancing Between the Raindrops” was its title,
‘a dispatch from a small state diplomat’, later,
President of the United Nations General Assembly.

I had met him only twice before, both of long duration;
the first was on a flight from New York to Georgetown,
the second was when we were guests of Chetram Singh
at a cricket Test match at Bourda ground in Guyana.

We talked mostly about books based on the story of Guyana
because on the flight, I was reading Charles Waterton’s account
of his travels to British Guiana about two hundred years before
titled, “Wanderings In South America” over four separate trips.

Rudy’s brother Vic, who secured our Bourda seats with Chetty
had told me previously that I would be sitting next to Rudy
so I brought a gift for him that I was certain he would like
“The Creature in the Map” about Raleigh’s El Dorado quest.

Rudy’s “Dancing Between the Raindrops” is reality revealed
about the harsh but sublime undertakings of high diplomacy
and now I cheer and applaud Rudy again for his newest inning,
dancing between the sunbeams in the glorious promised land.
