The Indo-Caribbean oriented Shri Surya Mandir, located at 172nd St off Jamaica Ave in Queens, held a special three nights Bhagwatam yagya that concluded its fourth session on Mother’s day morning. The sessions began on Thursday night and held and continued on Friday and Saturday night. Pandit Ram Hardowar, spiritual leader of the Shri Surya Mandir officiated at the service which was a ten year memorial for a female devotee of the mandir. Pandit-ji read from the Bhagwatam Puran. Lord Krishna Murthi was placed at the middle of the mandir. Family members of the deceased sat as shrotas and sponsored prasad and bhojan. On the final session, tributes were uttered about motherhood and about the illustrious life of the deceased. The Mandir was founded by deceased Dharmacharya Pandit Hardowar of Upper Corentyne (Top Side), Guyana. It is patronized by Hindus from Guyana, Trinidad, India and other parts of the globe.
