Dool Hanomansingh

On Sunday 14 – Tuesday 16, April, 2024 the Radha Govind Society will be hosting a grand Sri Ram Naumi celebration at the Divali Nagar, Chaguanas. Puja will begin at 5 p.m. followed by bhajans and kirtans and discourses by His Holiness Swami Maheshvarananda each night.

Prior to the Ram Naumi celebration the Society is engaging in nightly Satsanghs that began on April 03 and continuing until the Ram Naumi celebrations at Divali Nagar. Several mandirs and groups across the country including Vaidhi Trinidad, the Sri Krishen Mandir of Lylane Street, Felicity, Satya Anand Ashram of Aranguez, the JKP (Jagad Guru Kripalu Parishat) Center at Chase Village, the Carlsen Field Mandir, the Bamboo No 1 Mandir in Valsayn, the Suchit Trace Mandir, Penal, the Beepath Ranch and Cultural Center, Caparo, the Rapsey Street Shiv Mandir and the Palmiste Hindu Temple will be hosts of this Ramayan yatra.

This special Ram Naumi is in keeping with the grand opening of the Sri Ram Mandir of Ayodhya, India, in January 2024 when the murthi of Sri Ram was installed after being disputed for more than 500 years. This year’s celebration of Ram Naumi is a celebration of that long-awaited victory.

Prior to its Ram Naumi celebrations, the Radha Govind Society held a retreat at its JKP Centre, Chase Village from Saturday March, 30 to Monday April, 01. This spiritual retreat has become a feature of the Radha Krishna Society which the devotees looked forward to recharge themselves spiritually.

Jagadguru Kripalu Maharaj (1922-2013), the founder of the Jagadguru Kripalu Parishat with its headquarters in Uttar Pradesh, India, was a renowned spiritual teacher in India. His organization has five main ashrams – four in India and one in the USA.

Swami Maheshvarananda, the spiritual head of the Radha Govind Society of Trinidad, was born in Welcome Village, Chaguanas. After teaching for several years at the San Fernando Technical Institute and working with youths in the Hindu Seva Sangh, Swamiji left for India to pursue studies in Sanskrit and Philosophy. Impressed with the work of Kripaluji, Swamiji, after finishing his studies, joined the JKP and was later ordained a Swami.

The Radha Govind Society led by Swamiji has a committed group of devotees who are dedicated to the spiritual rejuvenation of the society.  Their eagerness to serve has motivated the devotees to work with all for the spiritual uplift and rejuvenation of the Hindu and national community.

The philosophy and teachings of the JPK is rooted in orthodox Sanatan Dharma that appeal to the Hindus in this part of the world. The celebration of Ram Naumi demonstrates and affirms this commitment to Sanatan Dharma as practiced in Trinidad and Tobago.
