Several scholars have advocated for pension for Mr. Balram Singh Rai in the Guyana media. In response, Mr Kit Nascimento penned in all four of Guyana’s newspapers that “there are other ministers, besides Balram Singh Rai, who have been denied pensions “. I recommend that Kit take the matter to court. Kit is sure to find a host of lawyers who will do pro bono work for the prestige and fame it would bring. The case will certainly be won by Kit with relative ease.
Former PPP Minister Mr Balram Singh Rai who turned 100 years on February 8th and is living in England and who was denied a pension by the PPP is too far removed to effect any changes. It is high time He is deserving of it. This shameful mistake be corrected. After all Mr Eusi Kwayana has had no problem in collecting his parliamentary pension. Correct me if I am wrong.
It will be recalled that former GECOM chairman Mr Doodnauth Singh had to take the PPP government on the issue of his benefits and he won the case.
Kit should know that the present government and opposition will only be pussyfooting on the issue.
