Take the Vaccines

There is too much talk–cross talks- about whether to take the Covid 19 Vaccine or not.

It is about time that the people of Trinidad and Tobago to get serious about their lives if they want to beat this dreaded pandemic.

I fully support Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley’s decision or talk about considering such action is a formidable one because we cannot continue to live in fear. This pandemic must be stopped at all costs, and if the vaccine is a tool to write it off from the national and international landscape, let’s do it.

Dr Rowley played a hit and miss game initially when the pandemic first shot into prominence. Apparently, he was not sure whether he was coming or going. The mechanics of governance was at a standstill, and the country was not able to breathe.
The government had thought that the pandemic was just a simple passing cloud and that it would soon wither away, and that was going to the end of it.

But the Covid 19 was not a simple challenge, but one that has brought the world at a standstill. I am not sure if there is any country or countries planning such a measure. Prime Minister Dr Rowley had the gall to tell the world that TT was not on any begging mode for vaccines, albeit no sooner the words dried from his lips, he was on hand to receive vaccines from India, Barbados, St. Vincent among other nations.

He was bent on the African Covax deal, but that hid not materialize fully, if at all.

This country cannot and must not embarass our Prime Minister, even though he is noted of embarassing himself at home and abroad. Religion or no religious beliefs, we must note that the pandemic is not sparing anyone. If we do not follow the simple protocols, then we would have to pay price, at times death.

Come on Mr. Prime Minister take the bull by the horn and make it mandatory that all the peoples of TT must, unconditionally, take the vaccine and this would be the opportunity to erase that heavy fine of $350,000 plus jail, if anyone ignores the Quarantine Amendment Act. Let us face it that fine is overly heavy. Maybe the Government is using the pandemic to raise taxes to run the country.

Over to you Mr. Prime Minister.
