Trinidad and Tobago Congress of the People supports wage increase for public servants

The Congress of the People is almost lost for words in the latest debacle facing us.

When one thinks that we have reached the end of our nightmare, another surfaces. If the current state of our society was not enough to scare even the most ardent supporter, the crime epidemic only seems to increase; and no, we are not speaking about home invasions, robberies, or murder, but the almost criminal intent of the Salaries Review Commission (SRC) who to seek to raise the salaries of the already ‘monied’ politicians.

After offering public servants a paltry 4% increase, with a ‘Take it or go to Hell’ attitude, led by our astute, “I want my money” prime minister, a whopping 30+% increase is now on the table for him and others.

When will we, the normal citizens, say enough is enough?

We must begin to stop the wanton pillage that we allow to take place by those whom we have entrusted to make our lives better.

Having been a part over the years of wastage and corrupt practices, now to add increases to their privileged lives while we, the normal citizens continue to develop our survival skills, is tantamount to those known dictatorships of yesteryear or many who currently live opulent lives while the masses live in sometimes abject poverty.

It’s time to wake up; Trinidad and Tobago, it’s time to wake up political aspirants; let’s put our people and country first.

Honorable Prime Minister, we await your response to the SRC’s recommendations.
