The musical and cultural landscape of Trinidad and Tobago has lost an important member with the passing on 4 September 2023 of Rennie Ramnarine, bassist, guitarist and singer of the iconic band, Dil-e-Nadan.

Dil-e-Nadan was founded by Rennie’s father, Ramnarine “Tole” Moonilal, who himself passed away in January this year, and remains headed by his brother, Raymond.

Rennie followed in the footsteps of a great musical family in Trinidad and Tobago and made his mark on our cultural history as a nation, ever since his coming on the scene in 1990. In addition, Rennie was a great and kind human being who was loved dearly, and will be missed deeply.

Rennie battled chronic kidney failure since 2019 and passed away early this morning. Political Leader, Kamla Persad-Bissessar and the entire UNC family express our deepest condolences to his family, in particular, his wife Maria, and his three daughters Samara, Samiya and Raveena Marie.

Rennie was an integral part of the tremendous creative legacy of Trinidad and Tobago. I know that his musical contributions will be kept alive and remembered, and we must ensure that the artistic talent of our country, in all its forms, continues to flourish and build upon the foundation that Rennie and others have left behind for us.

Om Sadgati.
