Proving that our Indo-Trinis are an essential segment of our country’s intelligentsia even though they have remained as shadows in the background of society seemingly still in a state of indentureship as of more than a century ago, here is this revelation that says otherwise:

The list of personalities that follow hereunder proves the point that Indo-Trinis are here in both quality and quantity:

For Research and Publications, the winner is Prof. Ramesh Deosaran who has been a professor of criminology and psychological research at UWI and out of which several books were written.

For Engineering, the winner is Prof. Prakash Persad for his pioneering work in mechatronics and for his position as president of UTT.

For Dance, the winner is Susan Mohip for being a child prodigy when she was known as ‘Baby’, to now into her maternal years where she continues to be involved as an exemplar and tutor at UWI.

For theological scholarship, the winner is Prof. Anantanand Rambachan whom the BBC recognises as such and who in his many religious books of publication is, indeed, so – a religious scholar extraordinaire.

For Media Originality, the winner is Sankhya Television which in its 13 years as a Hindu station, continues to live up to the goal of its founder Mrs. Sherry Singh – which is the propagation of Hinduism.

For Rajyoga Meditation, the winner is Silvereen Mongru whose dedication to her calling has led her to become a Brahma Kumari Teacher and Motivational Speaker on the topic in many countries.

Because we know all good things must come to an end, this first phase of this award project might become truncated because the logistics involved in including the comprehensive Indo-Trini demographic as far as excellence is concerned might just become too overwhelming as can be seen from this avalanche and tsunami of people who are recognised and in their scriptures could move mountains.
