WANTED IN GUYANA: 1 JURIST TO FAIRLY AND EXPEDITIOUSLY CONCLUDE PERVERSE ELECTION FRAUD CASE

HON. ALBERT BALDEO

Dear Editor,

The most egregious election fraud case in Guyana’s history has reached new, unprecedented lows. When we thought that justice was going to be done, alas, here comes the illness excuse. This latest delay for yet another month is an unprecedented disgrace.

The Chancellor (Ag.), as the final, supposed guardian of Guyana’s justice system, must not be seen as complicit in this monstrosity. The buck stops with her. She must promptly reassign this case to another Magistrate, with swift haste and pellucid instructions to conclude this matter expeditiously, or resign.

This delay of over 3 years constitutes legal and judicial malpractice, is an embarrassment to all, a breach of the public trust and abrogation of the rights of all Guyanese, an unconscionable waste of public resources and funds, and an abomination and departure from all the basic fundamental norms of justice and decency.

Enough already!

Albert Baldeo, Fmr. Magistrate, Senior State Counsel, Police Legal Advisor (Guyana)
