American history is about guns as it is about grandma’s apple pie. The Crown – British was afraid to give guns to early English settlers to prevent rebellious uprisings. In light of threats by indigenous people – Indians, indentured Servants – Irish and then slaves the Crown felt it was important to arm the English settlers to fend off rebellious attacks and uprisings.
Independent America and its Declarations of Independence that all men are created equal with certain Unalienable Rights with Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness was written on paper but does not guarantee equal rights in practice.
The 2nd Amendment inter alia of the 10 Bill of Rights is the best one that give Citizen of America to protect their Rights than the other 9 Amendments.
The 2nd Amendment gives citizen of America the rights to keep and bear arms to protect their families, property and fundamental rights by the constitution.
In the history of America, Blacks fought for the right to own guns to defend Black lives from White Racists and the
the KKK using the 2nd Amendment of the Bill of Rights.
Today in the USA – White and Black liberals want the Rights to keep and bear arms controlled or eliminated leaving American defenseless against criminals.
In Trinidad / Guyana there is no 2nd Amendment for its citizen to keep and bear arms and this is why Indians are victimized and killed each day. Criminals will always have access to guns, but law abiding citizens have to apply for a license for a gun by going through lots of bureaucracy including bribery.
In Trinidad / Guyana the armed forces is mostly Black and if another Wismar Massacre as in Guyana or an uprising against Indians in Trinidad/Guyana were to take place without the rights to keep and bear arms Indians will be exterminated.
Federalism in Guyana is one option to protect Indians but that alone cannot do the job. The right to bear arms will certainly fend off hostile forces.
In most States in America looting, burning and rioting is limited in urban black areas, but does not extend to other gun holding areas.
In Guyana it’s believed that officials gave the Buxton Fine Man gang (which massacred Indians in 2006) guns to kill Indians and babies in villages which had no arms.
In Trinidad , Indians having no guns and slow rapid response from the police leave Indians defenseless against criminals.
Under British rule citizens were allowed to own guns, but Black rule Caribbean governments do not want anything like the US 2nd Amendment rights to protect Liberty , Life and the Pursuit of happiness Federalism would be more meaningful for Indians with a 2nd Amendment for Trinidad / Guyana for a start.
I, however, believe the best solutions to Guyana ethnic problem is Partition.
