When Miss Misleads

I encouraged my son to attend a private tutoring class conducted by a former colleague of mine and who has a reputation of being the best in town. Not only that, she constantly drops hints of possessing mystical telepathic ability, saying things like, “I was expecting you, I knew you were coming”, and other stupid talk like that.

So my son is psyching and readying himself up to write CAPE next year via her online classes and she assures him/us that she’ll take responsibility for signing him up for the exam in ’22 – although I was prepared to do it. After my son does a bit of run around getting all the documents required and sure that he was on board, Miss calls only yesterday and casually tells him, as if handing him a lollipop, that he wouldn’t be able to write the exam as his fellow student who was assigned the responsibility (by her) of registering the students had not done so and the deadline had passed.

And as if to heal the wounds of a child losing an entire year, all she is offering is, “I take full responsibility” (not the delinquent student) as if accepting fault after the fact, after the faux pas, the tragedy, was going to heal the wounds.

Point is: we must be mindful of whom we entrust the careers and life of our children to as there are all kinds of charlatans and crackpots out there trying ‘to confuffle’ your head with bizarre gibberish talk by posturing as apostolic prophets and prophetesses.
