It’s not uncommon for African political intellectuals to take pot shots at Indo – Guyanese , more so against Hindus as being racists. The fact that Hindus are the common denominator in the equation of the Indian race makes them susceptible for Blacks to attack Hindus first and by extension to attempt to destroy the Indian race politically and culturally.
The fact that most of Guyana’s Indian political founding fathers came out of a mostly Hindu nationalist ethnic origin (British Guiana East Indian Association) causes Blacks to view Hindus as more threatening to their political ownership of Guyana.
Dr. Kean Gibson has previously stated that the Hindu religion is violent and racist, and now Opposition MP – PNC – Ms. Amanza Walton – Desir [ AWD ] stated that the PPP – party supporters are a “mentally lazy people” , who cannot think for themselves , so the Indians allow the PPP – party to do it for them.
Then what PNC MP – AWD stated was supported again somewhat by AFC’s Khemraj Ramjattan and publicised by well known Afrocentric – Guyanese advocate Dr David Hinds.
Ms Amanza Walton- Desir [ AWD ] proceeds to of course shine up her Black race to be better political thinking people with inquisitive , enquiring minds with a better record for the upholding of the democratic process. On the questions of Indians allowing the PPP – party to think for them they are found guilty as charged , but the same is true for the Black Race who stood by allowing the PNC – leaders to bankrupt Guyana and damage Black hope. Would it be true that at the same time the Indians in the APNU-AFC coalition cannot think for themselves with the exception of MP Charrandass who did not support the 7 thousands fired sugar workers with no compensation given to them?
What is wrong if Hindus are the unifying force for the Indian Race?
Is it wrong when Africans use the narrative of slavery in Guyana as a unifying force ?
On the topic of which race is the guardian of the democratic process in Guyana , it is impossible to give the trophy to the PNC who never won elections without fraud , and rigging and the use of violence against Indians.
Instead of Indians asking for an apology by AWD – the Indian activists should support Mr. Vincent Alexander / AWD call for an open conversation on Race Politics in Guyana. Let’s start with the 1964 Wismar Massacre of Indians of 26th May 1964.
Let’s just get it on. Let the debate be without the PPP and PNC. Let it just be between intellectuals on both sides of the divide. The problem for Indians is who are going to be their champions to match the other Afrocentric side?
