The entire world says the Guyana election was rigged and the observers say the electoral fraud was the work of Mingo, Lowenfield, Gecom Chair, deputy CEO, and the PRO with able support from the three government appointed election commissioners. Guyanese I interacted with in the diaspora and in Guyana are also convinced that the election was rigged blamed the same characters noted above.
Here are some relevant questions to ponder for which answers would help people understand who or what was really in charge of the rigging: Are the individuals mentioned above really to be blamed for the rigging? They may be the physical actors who partook in it, as the public say, but were they the intellectual actors of fraud? Are they not puppets being pulled by a string from behind the curtain? Assuming they are involved in the rigging, are they acting (participating in the rigging) on their own volition? What really drove them to engage in rigging? What benefits would accrue to them from rigging? Were they instructed to rig and if so by who?
It should be noted that all of the ballot boxes were certified for all regions except for region 4 on March 4. Almost half of the boxes were certified in Region 4. Then Mingo engaged in his ‘sickness act’ only to miraculously recover and shamelessly carry out fraud in public view. Who instructed him ‘to feign sickness’ if he were not really sick? While all this was going on the Chair was silent? She herself appeared sick. She could have stopped the charade and fraud and stopped Mingo in his track. She did not. But she remained stoically silent. There were security personnel in front of her door and inaccessible to diplomats, observers, and technical advisors from Commonwealth. Why? Friends were not allowed in to see her. She then escaped through some back door. Why this behavior?
Then we have Lowenfield who pretended that all was well. He had no problem with the fraud. He prepared a report to declare the outcome of the elections knowing full well it was a sham count.
Is there someone (s) pulling the string from behind (of all the mentioned figures at Gecom and maybe even more actors at the election body)? When will the shenanigans end and the country have an official, real winner?
The constitution gives the chair of Gecom enormous powers. Gecom is an autonomous body. No one can’t direct or control its activities. When will the chair assume full power and bring this sham to an end? She cannot be controlled as the President repeatedly stated and government cannot restrict the power of Gecom. The President stated he would abide by the ruling of Gecom. Gecom is really the chair who has the controlling vote of an equally divided body – cannot tell Gecom how many recounting stations to have even amidst Covid. The Covid task force can suggest but not mandate the number of work stations; hat would mean it is interfering with Ggecom’s work. The government or Covid task force cannot deny requests from Gecom to carry out its mission. Neither the government nor the task force can stop observers from coming to the election recount if Gecom requires their presence. If Caricom scrutineers (monitors) can be approved to arrive in Guyana to observe the recounting process, the same principle applies to observers from Carter Center and other bodies.
