The media and anti-UNC forces continue to pander to this unwanted, unwarranted and intrusive behavior of a former Prime Minister with his refusal to acknowledge that he continues to step out of his boundary and remit.
It was very typical, classless and with an aura of overweening self regard that former Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley “summoned” the media and members of the public, via an invitation from “The Office of the Former Prime Minister” to a press briefing to address various pressing issues.
From the outset, what is this invitation from “The Office of the Former Prime Minister?”
For the very first time in TT’s political conversation, this was a new dimension being added by a spent office holder and simply put, it was a discredited former Prime Minister who continues to hang around and has now become an albatross and a psychological burden around the neck of his party and the country, to intrude and create ‘kuchoor.’

When will the media and those who believe in sharing Dr Rowley’s intrusive behaviour and rants realise that they are encouraging his narcissistic tendencies and attention-seeking behavior?
Much has been said since Dr Rowley decided that he was the best person to articulate foreign policy for Trinidad and Tobago. Because of his monumental ego and his true to form narcissistic attitude, Dr Rowley has refused to accept that he is no longer Prime Minister and Political Leader of the PNM, months after the chaos he created with his resignation and literally foisting his handpicked successor as Prime Minister on the country.
It seems that Dr Rowley has refused to re-enter a private life of relative obscurity; rather he believes that he has the god given right to continue his hateful, unparliamentary language and behaviour by now opening attacking the new Prime Minister and Administration.
Dr Rowley led a government that abandoned transparency and decency. Instead of quietly retiring, he continues to remind the country of his 9+ years of his inept and arrogant led Administration, his political litany of mismanagement, corruption, incompetence, cronyism and nepotism, political scandals and crisis after crisis which literally destroyed the country.
It has been three days since the country and new Administration was ‘lectured’ to by the former Prime Minister and it is indeed very worrisome that to date, not one of the 12 PNM MPs who supported the new PNM Political Leader Penny Beckles, the 13th MP to become Opposition Leader nor the six Opposition PNM Senators have publicly denounced the intrusion of Dr Rowley in the political narrative and conversation as though he remains their Leader.
Why haven’t any of these Opposition Parliamentarians publicly challenge Dr Rowley, calling him out and telling him that this is not what he is supposed to be doing by expressing opinions about issues that no longer carry his name and assuming an authority that he no longer has or is it that although he is out of office, Dr Rowley still has tight control of the caucus of the Party.
