Dear Editor,
A Indo Guyanese man murdered his partner in Queens, NY. Violence unleashed by our Indian men on spouses is horrific. The AG of Guyana has invited RFP for research into spousal violence including murders. Sadly, our neurotic preoccupation with economic issues has overshadowed the importance of social development (pushed it inadvertently to the periphery).
More attention and resources must be given to social programs which must also be elevated to center stage politics.
Wife murders have been a historical stain on our community and this has persisted into contemporary society.
Groups like Caribbean Voice, Nirvana Foundation, Guyana Foundation, NJ ASHM, among others must be given grants to help neutralize this nagging problem.
