FCB Stole Our Weekend

We exclaim, Thank God It’s Friday because the next day is blessed Saturday, the day when we get up late, go get doubles, go shopping and most of all enjoy family time together as during the week you have limited time to do so, ent?

So you go to pay with your FCB debit card this last week and it says declined although you know you have disposable cash in your account. You try elsewhere and it’s the same response. Not only is that embarrassing but it is exasperating. You hear of bank employees siphoning money from customers’ accounts and you want to know if you are one of the fleeced.

FCB didn’t have the decency to forewarn customers that this was going to happen so everybody was caught with their card invalidated. You go to FCB and then you know its they who are playing games with you and casually tell you to visit the bank on Saturday where new cards will be issued. You know the kind of queuing was going to take place, especially since this is the bank that takes the crown for morocoy speed.

Inconsiderate as banks are in this country, they did not take into consideration that senior citizens would be there, that some students writing exams would be affected or that persons incapacitated with health issues would be there as well.

You know when Imbert was surprised that we did not riot when his hike in gas prices occurred, he was smelling the tear gas of an impending revolution as happened in Iran where female students took to the streets to make redundant the hijab. Teenage female students defied the military and gov’t.

When you see rioters smashing glass windows and looting stores, it is not always for theft sake but because of the bad blood between citizens and business people who in their get rich obsession forget that the clients they treat with disregard are the ones who fill their pockets; that is why in a revolution they often feel the wrath of the rioters.

Ah, the business community feel if you turn your car in their yard to avoid traffic congestion you rob them of something precious – as is the case with one businessman in Princes Town – who has such a sign at the front of his store and who has a paid guard to make sure it is not violated. So FCB stole an entire Sat.
