Government Must Do More to Remedy Floodings

Indo-Caribbean Diaspora News

Former councilor Paras Ramoutar is calling on the Ministry of Health to embark on an urgent spraying and cleaning of cesspits of the flood areas in Caparo and environs following the floods.

Ramoutar said within recent weeks resident of Caparo, Chickland Road, Carr Trace, Carr Trace Ext Sharpe Road, Durham Mills, Santa Phillipa, Brasso Piedra, Mamoral Nos1 & 2, Ganess Trace, Todds Road, and the several communities that ornament the Brasso Caparo Valley Road.

With Covid 19 still hovering around, the Ministry of Health should not waver on this assignment but should act with urgence and diligence.

Ramoutar chided government for failing to act, particularly climate warning is now on the international radar, and that Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley attended the one in Scotland last year, and Penelope Beckles just came back from the one in Egypt. “It seems that the Government is only giving lip service to flood and global warming, and calling press conferences to express their concerns, but that is simply fake news.

“If the Government was serious, they should have started aerial spraying and cleaning of cesspits wherever that was possible. Get cracking on the job before it is overly late,” Ramoutar said.
