The Indian Diaspora Council International (IDC) and its global membership congratulate Hon. Kamla Persaud-Bissessar on her resounding victory in the 2025 general elections and her return as the Prime Minister of Trinidad & Tobago.
Hon. Kamla Persaud-Bissessar’s leadership and dedication to the people of Trinidad & Tobago have been evident throughout her career, and the people have voted; they are confident that her renewed tenure will bring unity and economic progress to the nation. Her commitment to inclusive governance and the welfare of all citizens resonates deeply with the values of the Indian Diaspora.
We congratulate Hon. Kamla Persaud-Bissessar on this historic success as a Person of Indian origin (PIO) in such a high-profile position in the Caribbean region, becoming the first woman of Indian descent to do so. We take much pride in her achievements as a person of Indian origin, with her background, determination, skills, and character, and we applaud her for her representation of her constituency to achieve more progress politically and socially for the common good”.
