INDARSINGH ECHOES CONCERNS SURROUNDING FIRING OF 30 TSTT OFFICERS;
QUESTIONS THE RETENTION OF A PRIVATE SECURITY FIRM; SAYS PRIME MINISTER GUILTY OF MURDERING ECONOMY.

I wish to support the concerns expressed by the Member of Parliament for Princes Town, and the Opposition shadow member for Public Utilities Barry Padarath, over the unfair, sinister and elitist restructuring at state-owned TSTT.
Revelations that the management of TSTT will terminate the employment of thirty (30) estate police officers, and replace the services of these officers with those of a private company signals that there is more in the proverbial mortar then the pestle regarding the restructuring of TSTT.
If the company was not in a position to afford the salaries of these 30 officers, then how can it afford to engage the services of a private security company?
If TSTT is restructuring because of profitability, then what is the value of the contract to be awarded, and how does this differ from the value of the salaries paid to these 30 officers and the service they provide?
If the cost of engaging the private security company is lower than the cost of employing the estate police, how can we be assured of that the scope and quality of the security services will be maintained, and that TSTT security needs will be adequately met?
Was there an open invitation to security companies to express interest in and submit proposals for the provision of security services? How many companies participated in this bid, or was it a sole select process?
If TSTT is involved in restructuring due to a drop in profits, then can these 30 officers reasonably believe that they will be paid their severance benefits?
What other positions stand to be made redundant by this restructuring exercise at TSTT, and how many more workers will be retrenched?
These 30 estate officers now join the hundreds of thousands of persons who have been whipped to the breadline by this hateful, negligent, demented, woeful, self-serving Prime Minister and his PNM government.
One would have thought that the $275 million acquisition of Amplia Communications, into which TSTT was corralled by the friends and financiers of the PNM, would have put TSTT in a better financial position. The firing of these 30 officers and the ongoing restructuring is proof that the acquisition of Amplia has done more bad than good, and has served the pockets of the PNM rather than serving the customers and workers of TSTT.
This Prime Minister and his cabal are guilty of the destruction of our economy.
While Dr. Keith Rowley lives off the fat of the land, working class persons stand to be sent home as a result of his impotent governance.
