No Keith Rowley, it’s about results, not race in Trinidad & Tobago

Gary Griffith

Press Release of NTA

Having failed at every measure of performance, the economy, national security, job creation, education, and healthcare, Keith Rowley is now resorting to dog whistles and race-baiting, in order to try to elicit an emotional response, in the hope that this could ignite PNM base support. This is typical of Keith Rowley prior to any election. It is not going to work this time.

But so desperate and baseless is his attempt, that he is now clutching at straws, by accusing people of resenting him for being black, including other black persons. The truth however is, this has nothing to do with color, but with the content of Rowley’s character.

Conjuring that from thin air, it is a blatant lie in the hope that he can get traditional PNM voters, to circle the sympathy wagon, and to ‘come back home’, because every metric, be it polls, social media responses, or chatter on the ground, says that this Keith Rowley led PNM is one of the most unpopular in our history.

And whilst Manning, Chambers, and even Eric Williams had faults, Rowley’s hatred for half the country, his arrogance, his dictatorial agenda, and his deliberate dividing of the country is never what PNM was about.

The fact is citizens are fed up with race politics because they know that it doesn’t make them safer, it doesn’t help them when they go to the grocery, it doesn’t help them get a job, and it doesn’t fix our broken healthcare and education systems. This is why this time, his dog whistle plot will fail.

Keith Rowley needs to understand that he can’t expect to govern a country when he continues to show hatred for half of the citizens of the country. Also, nobody cares about Keith Rowley’s color but him. They care about his incompetence, his march to dictatorship, his hatred for half of the country, and his disconnection from the needs of the average citizen, and that message would be sent.
