If for Trinidadian aspirations, sacrifice and hard work is to excel academically and economically and yet is no longer to be admired because its causing distress and headache among the African race then this is unfortunate. It is now stated that competitiveness is negatively affecting the Black Race.

The Government of Trinidad as I understand it is now refusing to publish the results of the SEA – Exams because the “Cow Pen’ schools’ Indian students are too bright and publishing their names who TOP the exams is embarrassing and very problematic to the African race.

In Trinidad rewards and praises are not given to those Citizens who is less dependent on government though self employed by selling BARRA and CHANNA [ doubles] but are laughed at by top PNM government officials.

Competitiveness in any society is what make a given Country or Race to excel. It’s why the very competitiveness that Blacks in Trinidad excel in sports because of the time and sacrifice they put in. A Black man body may be well built naturally but if he does not train, he will not still make the grade for a medal.

We Indians in Trinidad often will see how well African people do well in the Olympics and jump with joy without negative effects or headache or jealousy. What messages is the PNM- Government sending out to its Citizen that Sacrifice and hard work, passing the SEA exams are all SINFUL, and Laziness is the way to go? Today, China and India are competing with USA, all because of their sacrifice in education.

Trinidad needs to wake up and stop keeping down half of its population. That minute of joy the Blackman gets holding the Olympic Gold Medal is similar to the Indian student seeing their names published in the newspaper. Those who make the grades need to be acknowledged.

Note. SEA – EXAMS – Secondary Entrance Assessment admissions for the best public schools.
