India made Ferry to arrive in Guyana weekend

The India made ferry, MV MA Lisha, arrived In Trinidad on April 2 and scheduled to depart there on the 4th fir Guyana arriving this weekend.

The ferry was transported aboard a huge Dutch ship to Trinidad. It left Port Kolkata and arrived in Madras (Chennai) where it was loaded for the deep ocean journey to Trinidad.

is scheduled to arrive in Guyana by this weekend, after setting sail. A release from the Indian High Commission in Guyana said a Guyanese Captain and Crew will bring the Indian-made and Indian-funded Ocean Going Ferry MV MA Lisha to Guyana and us expected to arrive this weekend.

The release states:

The MV MA Lisha is scheduled to arrive in Guyana by this weekend, after setting sail from Kolkata to Chennai, and then making its way through the Atlantic Ocean to Trinidad, on April 2nd, 2023.

On April 3rd, 2023 the vessel was offloaded from the MV Sun Rise at the Port of Chaguaramas, as it prepares to sail to Guyana.

Onboard the vessel to guide it home to Guyana is a 14-member Guyanese crew led by Captain Courtney McDonald, veteran Guyanese Captain and Director of Maritime Safety at the Maritime Administration Department. The Guyanese Crew is complemented by three crew members from Garden Reach Shipbuilders and Engineers Limited, and two technicians from MACORP.

The Ocean going ferry is funded by a combined USD 12.77 million Government of India Grant and Line of credit and is expected to be officially inaugurated in third week of April. The ferry is expected to serve the North western region of Guyana and was built by the Indian Public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Defense of India Garden Reach Shipbuilders Ltd. (GRSE).
