New Delhi, Feb 18, 2022:

If you are a distressed Indian in any country in the Overseas, and if you need help, call REDIO. Since last one and half year, during the ongoing Covid period, REDIO has helped many distressed Indians from UAE, Saudi Arabia, US and other countries.

REDIO – Rescuing Every Distressed Indian Overseas is a unique initiative of Movement of Positivity launched under the leadership and guidance of Dr Dnyaneshwar Mulay, Former Ambassador and Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, Govt of India, who has over 35 years of global experience, and who understand the woes and sufferings of Indians abroad. Dr. Mulay is presently Member National Human Rights Commission.

“Over 30 million Indians are living abroad. A large number of them hold Indian citizenship; many of them get in to trouble due to cheating or abuse by recruiters/ employers, immigration issues, passport visa frauds, lost jobs, medical emergencies, petty crimes, imprisonment or detentions and other legal entanglements, said Dr Dnyaneshwar Mulay, Former Ambassador and Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs while talking to Indian Observer Post.

Dr. Mulay said, “The Government of India is helping them through ICWF in a proactive manner. However awareness among overseas Indians about govt assistance, relief available and how to contact Indian Missions is poor. Besides there are things that embassies or consulates cannot do due to rules and regulations. In such cases Redio is trying to help by building collaborative network of people who are already known for their track record for helping others. At present Redio’s advisors in 18 countries are helping distressed Indians in various ways.”

REDIO is a global organisation spread across all continents with 20 active advisors. It has emerged as an umbrella organisation to counsel the overseas distressed Indians that cordinates with Missions as also with local Government, GOI and respective state in India.

REDIO, which aims to help overseas Indians who get into distressed situations due to various factors, has rescued about 150 distressed Indians till Feb 2022. REDIO has rescued Indian women from Dubai, working as maids and stranded in due to false promises of unauthorised agents.

REDIO helped to free detained Indian workers in Jeddah city of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and arranged food, medical help, and logistical support to return to India. We also helped several labours to return from Saudi Arabia assisting them to get passport, emergency certificate from embessy.

“During covid pandemic we helped many overseas Indians to get bed in hospitals plazma and other necessities for their relatives back home, said

Just recently in January 2022, we helped 3 seafarers from Dubai, who were cheated and abandoned by their recruiter. We also extended help to a stranded labour who suffered for 3 months without proper food accommodation and salary by company.

“REDIO in association with Indian Diaspora Indian Club has announced a formal global launch event on February 20, 2022 at 7 pm, where Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, Minister of State for External Affairs of India and Culture of India will be the Chief Guest. Minister Meenakshi Lekhi will formally launch logo of REDIO too. This will herald much awaited Civil Society effort to help distressed overseas Indians to compliment Government of India efforts,” said Dhanashree Patil, Global Administrator of REDIO.
