A group of young Indo-Caribbean American children (students) performed puja to bless instruments they would use for studying and dance training. The special puja was performed at the Shri Devi Mandir of Jamaica, Queens. The students were accompany Ms Davina Singh, a brilliant classical dancer who is also known for her humanitarian activities.
The students of The Tejas Upaaya, Methods for Brilliance, took part in Havan and puja, blessing their Ghungroos, and a special presentation of Vedic symbolism through classical dance.
The students, 6-10 years old, presented sacred divine objects, such as the Shankh, Bansuri, Trishul, Damaru, and Gada, delivering a thorough explanation of what the object means from a Vedantic lens.
The Tejas Upaaya is a carefully formulated methodology to apply ancient expressions of the Vedas into modern day living. Students swiftly adapt mindful living through lessons of:
-dance mantras and slokas
-Pure classical step regimen
gestural expression and symbolic representation
-foundational Vedic philosophy
-Dramatization and conceptualization of the Puranas (ancient scriptures)
-classical dance theory
-stretch and strength training
body and mind alignment
and much more.
The Tejas Upaaya, designed to elevate consciousness, is
instructed by Davina Singh, with gratitude to all Gurus, especially Sadhana Paranji and Pt. Tillack Seerattan
