Of the three, which is the one you’re most likely to see and be most pestered by? I have a little cocoyea broom and a tin of aerosol spray that I used with apocalyptic flourish to ensure that I am not pestered by the house fly as whatever they touch becomes taboo to my squeamish sense of hygiene. However, at a more personal level, there are people who could easily qualify for a whap from my broom when they become pestilential.
My next list of Naipaul Awardees is ready to come off the assembly line and while I envisage the worst, abysmal list, coming from the UNC for the coming elections, my list is so star-studded with literati and glitterati that not to reveal it just yet is causing me countdown jitters. I just wish the public could see what stars we have in our constellation and what kind of Godzilla monsters Kamla is going to expose in her slate of candidates.
This is no country that is so badly off that we have to excavate from the dump the trash we give to our people as the best there is. We the people should stop accepting rotten fish and tell our leaders what to do with it and where to put it. O, for goodness sake, this is the country of CLR James, VS Naipaul, Rudranath Capildeo, Basdeo Panday, Brian Lara, Penny Commissiong, Ato Boldon, Sparrow, Rikki Jai, Nikki Minaj etc and yet all we could find is one setta horse fly when we’re looking for persons to represent us.
You see that above list recognising our celebrities, it is a most abbreviated one as if a comprehensive one is made it shall be from here to eternity. We are overflowing to the brim with persons who could rub shoulders with the best in the world but we don’t know that because of the crab in the barrel syndrome we suffer that makes us keep down anyone who is likely to outshine us.
So my list of awardees not only is an act of cherry picking, it is intended as an indictment against those who want us to believe that we have a bankruptcy of eligible persons who might be selected if we want to move this country forward. For this reason, my finger is on the trigger trying it’s best not to prematurely release the names on my list. But eventually:
