Dear Editor,
One Deodatt Singh (RS) ridiculed the findings of a survey conducted by Dr Vishnu Bisram that found political support for Messrs Azruddin Mohamed and Glenn Lall. Singh described support for Azruddin and Glenn as “non-sense” and made snide, derisive comments about the prominent duo. The writer (obviously a fake name) didn’t question support found in same poll for well known writers Ravi Dev and Chris Ram. Why target Azruddin and Glenn? Why this scathing attack on two of the country’s most generous philanthropists and caring, compassionate individuals? RS sells his soul for land and money. It is clear that Singh’s two bosses are deeply worried about Azruddin and Glen entrance in politics. They will defeat PPP. That is why RS is unleashed on them. Unlike political crooks who steal state funds, Azruddin and Glenn use their own personal money to help others. That is why they have a large following unlike RS.
Isn’t the writer ashamed to do the bidding of his two discredited corrupt bosses?
Several writers (FK, RS, JB, among others) use multiple fake names to defend and or promote PPP. KN did not block the PPP propagandists using fake names. They get free press. Yet they cursed Glenn. The propagandists should advise their bosses to permit freedom of press in their newspapers Chronicle and Times.
The writer, who clearly never conducted a survey and seemingly jumped from party to party as paid propagandist, gave away his identity when he penned : “ … for umpteenth times I ask who handles Bisram’s polls in Guyana …”.
What does that that have to do with polling in modern times? A physical presence is not needed to interview respondents in a survey. Earlier missives, presumably from the same fake named writer, asked Dr Bisram for his phone number, website, names and phone numbers of people polled, among other idiotic questions. That is utter nonsense! A poll is a confidential exercise. Names of respondents are held in confidence. One is bemused by the polling ignorance and utter stupidity of the writer. His bosses should fire him!
Another act of bemusement is his reference to voting numbers and percentages relating to past elections. Dr Bisram’s poll refers to current opinion findings that there is voter apathy, lack of interest in voting. It has nothing to do with earlier voting. Singh counters the findings with an increase in the number of voters from 2006 to 2020. Isn’t that response asinine?
In terms of numbers, as requested, no need for Dr Bisram to reply. An independent straw poll, though not scientific, gave a gauge of support for Azruddin and other potential candidates. Currently, the poll has Azruddin ahead of Singh’s man, Irfaan. When combined, Azruddin and Glenn are almost 50%. It is a strong combination.
Clearly, the straw poll authenticates Bisram’s scientific poll that found support for Azruddin and Glenn.
Why question Bisram’s poll if dissatisfied with the findings? Why not conduct your own poll? In fact, the PPP has initiated a straw poll to counter the findings of the just released straw poll that put Azruddin ahead of Irfaan. If there is no support for Azruddin and Glenn, then why pay to conduct a manipulated straw poll?
I urge Dr Bisram to continue conducting polls to give the nation a guide on public views of political happenings in the country.
Yours truly
Charles Sugrim
